According to Al-Mustaqilah daily, Barham Saleh met with Arshad Salehi, head of the Turkmen Front, at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad on Monday morning when the two sides discussed security and developments in Kirkuk, as well as the need to strengthen security and services in the disputed province which the two government of Erbil and Baghdad claim authority over.
According to the statement, the meeting stressed on the need to settle the unresolved issues of Kirkuk through the constitution and dialogue between the people of the province and to begin efforts to improve their situation and end the problems caused by dictatorial policies, corruption and discrimination.
Barham Saleh and Arshad Salehi also stressed: "Solutions must be based on the will of the people of Kirkuk and preventing from marginalization of different parties and groups, so as to create stability and peaceful coexistence between all identity groups in the region."
During the meeting, the Iraqi President stressed on the need to end the unresolved problems and alleviate the suffering of the people in Kirkuk, preventing the situation from becoming critical and the province from becoming a scene of disputes and problems, calling for strengthening Kirkuk security.
