In a statement, Salih’s office said that the two sides discussed the political situation and security issues.
Salih stressed the importance of cooperation and consultation between all parties and the need to abide by the Constitution when resolving outstanding issues.
The statement also praised Barzani for showing the will to start constructive talks and reach a mutual understanding with the central government.
A delegation headed by Barzani arrived in Baghdad earlier on Saturday to hold talks with a UN Security Council delegation, which is in the capital to meet Iraqi and Kurdistan Regional Government officials.
The KRG delegation included Barzani, Parliament Speaker Vala Farid, head of the Foreign Relations Department Falah Mostafa, and KRG Spokesperson Safin Dizayee.
