Ten ISIS militants killed in coalition airstrike in Kirkuk

Ten militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed in an airstrike by US-led Coalition warplanes in Kirkuk governorate, Iraq’s Security Media Cell said on Wednesday, January 27.

The airstrike was at the request of the Joint Operations Command upon accurate information from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service over the presence of ISIS militants in al-Tamour area in the governorate, according to the federal media cell.

Also on Wednesday, an ISIS militant was arrested east of Anbar’s Fallujah district, NRT reported.

In December, 2017, federal security forces, in cooperation with the Peshmerga and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and aided by Coalition airstrikes, declared victory over ISIS. Since then, the militant group has resorted to guerrilla hit-and-run tactics, but remains a potent threat in some parts of the country.
