Turkish jets bomb suspected PKK bases in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align: left;">The Turkish military said on Tuesday, June 12, that it attacked the bases of the Kurdistan Workers&amp;rsquo; Party (PKK) in Kurdistan Region in airstrikes overnight and destroyed 12 targets belonging to the party.

The targets, in the Qandil, Hakurk, and Avasin-Basyan regions, included shelters and ammunition depots, the army said in a statement.

It added that 34 PKK fighters had been killed in operations in Kurdistan Region between June 1 and June 8.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that the country had launched operations in Sinjar and Qandil.

&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve started anti-terror operations in Qandil and Sinjar. We&rsquo;ve destroyed 14 important targets with our 20 aircraft,&rdquo; Erdogan was quoted by Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency.

Turkish warplanes intermittently carry out airstrikes against suspected PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region.
