Kufan Kaneo, the leader of the Roj Kurdistan Democratic Party, referred to a conference held between political parties and individuals to hear the voices of the dissent in Syrian Kurdistan and stated the parties present at the meeting were the Kurdistan Patriotic Union Parties (PYNK) and the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) and independent individuals and political movements where they discussed the current problems of Syrian Kurdistan.
He continued: "The parties present in the PYNK were present at the gathering but none of the parties of the ENKS were present at the meeting.
"In this meeting, it was revealed that there are many problems between Kurdish parties that are not necessarily related to today and have existed for a long time but have blocked the way to let the parties to be united," Mr. Kaneo further said.
"It is clear that Kurdish parties should pay attention to the Kurdish-Kurdish negotiation process and ignore some differences because Kurdish enemies in the region have a common position to hurt Kurds," the party leader explained about some of the issues discussed at the meeting.
He noted: "the division of Kurdish areas in the last few years, has not only put pressure on the Kurdish people, but also has led to racist policies against the Kurdish people and the powers have denied the rights of the Kurdish people."
"The National Council did not want to participate in this meeting because it does not have a political decision and it takes orders from elsewhere," Kaneo explained why the ENKS did not attend the meeting.
The party leader further reminded: "Today, it is necessary for the parties to move away from their personal interests and adopt a unified strategy for the national interests of the Kurds in Syria."
