Nechirvan Barzani to travel to Baghdad soon

A senior adviser to the president of the Kurdistan Region said he would travel to Baghdad soon to hold talks with Iraqi central government officials.

Fallah Mustafa said in an interview with Rudaw that Nechirvan Barzani will soon travel to Baghdad to discuss the results of his recent visit to Paris with Iraqi central government officials.

The senior adviser stressed that the visit was a sign of Barzani's efforts to continue talks with Baghdad to resolve problems and seize the opportunity to resolve the differences.

He also said that during Barzani's visit to Paris, all issues, including the war against the ISIS, humanitarian aid to refugees in the region, the situation of minorities in Iraq were discussed in a transparent manner, and the French president called for strengthening relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Regarding the relations between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), he said that the two sides have worked together in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the KRG and may have different views on some issues, but there is hope that they would meet each other at a comprehensive meeting of political parties that is planned to be held soon.

Fallah Mustafa noted that the approval of the Iraqi budget is an example of the success of the unity and sharing the positions of Kurdish parties in defending the legal rights of the Kurds and the region.
