Nechirvan Barzani visits Jordan, meets King Abdullah II

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein on Wednesday, June 23, in Amman and discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations.

Barzani said on Twitter that the pair focused on economic cooperation and regional challenges.

“We value our deeply-rooted ties with Jordan and look forward to further [strengthening] them,” he said without elaborating the about the details of their talks.

It is Barzani’s second trip abroad this month, after traveling to the UAE.

Barzani’s trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was important for both economic and political reasons, said Falah Mustafa, the foreign policy advisor to Nechirvan Barzani said on Sunday, June 13.

He stated that bilateral relations between the UAE and the Kurdistan Region were strong and that both sides see the relationship as valuable.
