"The issue of water is extremely important in Turkish-Iraqi relations, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has named Professor Faisal Oglu as an expert in the field," Ain al-Iraq News quoted Muhammad Kucuk Saqali as saying.
Mr. Saqali added: "A large working group consisting of experts in various fields of water has been formed in government institutions with the aim of solving the water problem in Iraq and using it properly by Turkey and Iraq."
The Turkish Consul General stated: "Efforts are underway in this regard, and two days ago, a delegation from the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources visited Turkey and the situation of the Tigris River in Turkey was discussed."
Mr. Saqali noted that a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Water Resources will soon travel to Iraq to investigate the water situation from the Mosul Dam to Basra.
The Turkish Consul General in Mosul also said that in the near future, a center in Baghdad will be established for the mechanism of optimal use of water by Turkey.
Saqali added: "This year, Iraq and Turkey are facing water shortages due to low rainfall. But Turkey has never cut off water to Iraq.
