Iranian, Turkish parliament speakers stress on cooperation between Tehran and Ankara

<p style="text-align: left;">Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Turkish Parliament Speaker Mostafa Sentop reiterated on cooperation between the two states in all fields.

Qhalibaf, in a phone call with his Turkish counterpart, emphasized on regional cooperation between Tehran and Ankara in order to boost lasting peace and security in the region.

The Turkish speaker congratulated Qalibaf on his selection as the speaker of Iran&rsquo;s parliament, Khaneh Mellat reported on Friday.

At the beginning of the conversation, Qalibaf pointed to the commonalities between the two countries and stated that there have always been friendly ties at the highest level between Iran and the Turkey, adding that the Iranian Islamic parliament welcomes and supports any attempt to expand ties between the two countries.

Qalibaf stressed the importance of developing economic cooperation between the two countries, expressing hope that a parliamentarian-friendly group between Turkey and Iran will be formed soon.

He also stressed on the necessity of continuing dialogue between the three countries of Iran, Russia and Turkey in the framework of the Astaneh Agreement to resolve the crisis in Syria.

The speaker of the Iranian parliament considered the cooperation between the two countries in the regional issues and on the establishment of peace and stability as significant and stressed on the need to &ldquo;strengthen and unify Islamic countries against the Zionist regime's plans.&rdquo;

The Turkish Parliament Speaker congratulated Qalibaf on his election as Iran&rsquo;s parliament speaker and stressed on the readiness of the Turkish parliament to strengthen and boost the friendly relations between the two stated in the political, economic and cultural fields.

In another part of the interview, Sentop expressed his hope that the level of trade and economic ties between Turkey and Iran will return to the period before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

He also condemned the imposition of cruel sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and formally invited his Iranian counterpart to make a visit to Turkey.
