According to Al-Firat News, Maj. Gen. Tahseen Khafaji, spokesman for the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, said: "Strategic talks between Iraq and the United States focus on strengthening Iraqi forces in the areas of scouting, military intelligence, training and providing weapons."
Khafaji added that the international coalition does not oppose any request from Iraq regarding the reconnaissance operation.
The Iraqi military official stressed that the issue of the withdrawal of coalition forces is normal. However, this will not negatively affect the training and provision of weapons and military information to Iraqi forces and the fight against ISIS.
It is worth mentioning that the international coalition against the ISIS announced the withdrawal of a number of its troops from Iraq to Kuwait last Saturday.
The coalition said in a statement: "A number of them have returned to their main bases in Kuwait due to the declining need for Horizon Special Forces in Iraq."
