U.S. expresses sympathy with Syrian Kurdish city of Kobani

<p style="text-align: left;">The US State Department has expressed sympathy for the victims of the Turkish airstrike on Kobani in Syria. The statement has failed to name Turkey as the perpetrator of the attacks

The State Department said in a statement that we sympathize with the families of the innocent citizens who were killed and wounded in terrorist attacks on Tel Helef and Kobani.

The U.S. statement has stopped short of naming the cause of the strike on Kobani, stressing that a permanent political solution should be sought in Syria and that increasing violence will be preventing peace.

The US State Department also said it supported a call by the UN secretary-general and its envoy to Syria to establish a national ceasefire in Syria and pave the way for peace in the war-torn country.
