The two sides discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations, the pursuit of the assassination of the resistance leaders Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani and his the Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the legal decision of the Iraqi government, people and parliament about ousting the US troops from the country, and other issues of mutual interest, Mehr News Agency reported.
The Iranian high-ranking official stated that Iran has filed a lawsuit against the US for the assassination of Iranian and Iraqi commanders, noting that Iran is pursuing the file in the international legal communities.
Chairman of Hashd al-Shaabi Falih al-Fayyadh, for his part, thanked Iran for defeating the IS terrorist group, noting that Iraq will always remember how Iran helped the Iraqi nation during difficult times.
Zareef arrived at the Iraqi International Airport on Sunday morning on his fourth visit to Baghdad, during which he met separately with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and the leader of Fatah Coalition Hadi Ameri.
The Iranian foreign minister also had a meeting with President Barham Salih, Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Fayeq Zaidan, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mohammed al-Halbusi, as well as Falih Fayadh, the president of the Hashid al-Shaabi Organization and Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the new Iraqi Alliance.
Zarif will then depart for Erbil in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
