Iranian president hails Ayatollah Sistani’s role for stability and security of Iraq

<p style="text-align: left;">Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Iraq's top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has always been respected by the people and government of Iran, and that his role in the stability and security of Iraq is &amp;ldquo;Irreplaceable&amp;rdquo;.

During a meeting with new Iraqi ambassador to Tehran Nasir Abdul Mohsen Abdullah on Tuesday, September 29, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the existing relations between the two friendly and brotherly countries, Iran and Iraq are very important, according to y IRNA.

He also stressed that his government is determined to support the peace, stability and security of Iraq.

Rouhani added that Iran was by the side of the federal government and Iraqi people with all its might and facilities during the fight against ISIS.

&ldquo;The martyrdom of Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis as two great commanders shows that the people of Iran and Iraq stand together against terrorism,&rdquo; he said.

The new Iraqi ambassador to Tehran also emphasized the need for further expansion and prosperity of Tehran-Baghdad relations, adding that the Iraqi government and people do not forget the assistance and efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fight against ISIS.
