Peshmerga minister says Erbil and Baghdad reached agreement on deployment of joint forces into disputed areas

The Minister of Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region announced the Kurdish ministry has reached a final agreement with the Ministry of Defense and the Iraqi Army with the aim of restoring stability and calm to the disputed areas and keeping these areas away from terrorist attacks.

According to the Xendan news website, Shoresh Ismail, the Minister of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region, met with Colonel Tad Boros, the head of the International anti-ISIS Coalition in the Kurdistan Region, and his accompanying delegation.

According to a statement issued by Peshmerga Ministry, the Kurdish minister praised the efforts of coalition and US forces in countering terrorism and terrorist groups, and stated: "We are well aware of the situation in the region and we have reached a final agreement with Baghdad to counter predictable threats so that we can work together and conduct joint operations in the future.

The Kurdistan Region Peshmerga Minister also said: "In order to return peace and stability to the disputed areas and eradicate terrorists in these areas, a final agreement has been reached with the Iraqi army and the Ministry of Defense and soon preparations would be completed for the operation of two Peshmerga brigades in these areas.

"We will continue to coordinate and cooperate to equip the Peshmerga forces alongside the Iraqi army to ensure the security of the region and the complete elimination of terrorists," said the head of the international coalition's military advisory against the ISIS.

Col. Tad Boros also added that the international coalition will continue to cooperate in the field of reform in the Ministry of Peshmerga and the organization and training Peshmerga forces.
