Turkey is waiting on opportunity to start new offensive targeting Kurdish forces in the war-torn country and will resort to "special war methods, such as chaos, disorder and assassination,’’ member of the PYD’s Joint Presidency Body, Foza Yusif, told Turkish Ozgur Politika newspaper.

The PYD, which dominates the Kurdish-majority region in Syria's northeast, is deemed to be a terrorist organization by Turkey due to its links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an armed group that has been fighting for Kurdish self rule in the country for almost four decades.

Turkey has launched three military offensives into neighboring Syria since 2016 - Euphrates Shield in 2016, Olive Branch in 2018, and Peace Spring in 2019 - targeting Kurdish forces in the north, which Ankara sees as a threat due to their alleged links to the PKK.

“War and crises will remain on the agenda (of the region) for two years,” Yusif said.

"The autonomous administration of northeast Syria can now provide a political solution for the whole of Syria,’’ she added. "As such, the powers that conduct politics on the ground in Syria must pay attention to this power, which rules over a region, where millions reside."
