According to NRT the artillery fires caused much material damage to orchards and groves, but there were no reported casualties.
“Most of the mortar shells struck Khamter mountain, surroundings of Bihere, Stablane and Sheranshe areas in the suburbs of the sub-district,” Manager of Darkar sub-district Shalal Afandi said on Tuesday, November 10.
“The bombings sparked panic to the Ezidi people in Bersv and Darkar camps and people in the area,” Afandi said.
More than 50 villages have been vacated in Batifa and Darkare sub-districts in Duhok due to Turkish shellings and airstrikes and thirty percent of the region’s environment were marred and burned, according to local officials.
On Tuesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Coordinator for International Advocacy Dindar Zebari said that Turkish warplanes carried out 272 airstrikes on the Kurdistan Region’s territories since the onset of 2020, including more than 33 airstrikes on border areas in Duhok governorate in July.
At least nine civilians have been killed in Turkish airstrikes since June 15 and 99 total since 2015, according to Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT).
Turkey launched a renewed campaign of air and ground operations in the Kurdistan Region and northern Iraq in mid-June, code-named Operation Claw-Eagle and Operation Claw-Tiger, which it says is necessary to combat the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
