Kurdish political representatives do not have the right to engage with each other: HDP co-chair

The co-chair of Turkey pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) called on Kurdish political parties in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to negotiate and avoid conflict.

"There is tension in the Kurdistan Region. We have tried from the beginning to prevent this tension from turning into a conflict. In the Middle East, the Kurdish language, values and existence have been attacked. In such circumstances, Kurdish political parties have no right to engage (in war) with each other. No political faction has the right to turn issues into conflicts. People will not forgive the creators of such a conflict," said Mithat Sancar, referring to recent developments in the Kurdistan Region.

According to the Mesopotamian News Agency, Sancar continued as saying that: "Once again, I repeat the message we have always issued. Problems can exist. The same goes for mistakes. I do not underestimate any of these. Whatever the issues and problems, our responsibility is to pave the way for dialogue and negotiation. We have the possibility and experience of resolving issues through dialogue and negotiation on the basis of friendship and brotherhood."
