Muqtada Sadr warns political situation in Iraq is worsening

Populist Iraqi Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr warned on Wednesday, December 8, the political situation in Iraq was worsening and said the country was being led into danger for the sake of some chairs in parliament.

Sadr commented on Twitter over the recent militant attacks in Erbil’s Makhmour, the bombing in Basra on Tuesday and assassinations in the country and called on the relevant authorities to "find out the facts in these terrorist acts.

The Shia cleric also called for serious work to "disband all undisciplined militias” and said arms should be confined to members of the state, NRT reported.

A bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded near the Teaching Hospital in Basra on Tuesday, killing four.

The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for an attack on Sunday in Makhmour, where 13 members of Kurdish forces and civilians were killed.
