Kurds cause of US- Turkey tension, professor says

<p style="text-align: left;">Professor Toqrol Kaskin believes Kurds are the main reason behind tensions between Washington and Ankara and the two NATO allies would not become former allies as long as the Kurdish issue remains unsolved.

A university professor and the president of World Management Center at Shanghai University, Kaskin told Arab News that the Kurdish question, particularly Syria Kurdish issue, is the main source of tension between Turkey and the US and the tension between two former allies would go away as long as the issue has remained unanswered.

He stressed that the Kurdish question, the Kurdish issue in Syria in particular, would remain unsolved unless Turkey accepts an independent Kurdish state or the US changes its national security interests and goals, clarifying that an independent Kurdish state would endanger Turkey&rsquo;s existence.

The university professor further claimed that Kurds in Syria are originally coming from Syria and are planning to make the regions Kurdish.

The professor at Shanghai University believes the US uses Kurdish card to destabilize Syria and Iraq and even to divide them and the plan will, unwillingly, leave its impact on Turkey which has the biggest Kurdish population in the world.
