Aras Sheikh Jangi, an official who accompanied Barham Salih in the visit, called the visit as very strategic.

Salih arrived in Tehran leading a high level delegation and was welcomed by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani and then Iranian President Hassan Rouhani welcomed Barham Salih in Saad Abad Cultural- Historic Complex.

Talabani told Kurdpress that Salih and Rouhani asked for deeper political and economic ties between Iraq and Iran and called for easing trade obstacles in order to boost bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tehran.

He further added that the visit was strategically very significant, particularly in the wake of the regional developments, adding that the two states can play a decisive role in regional developments.
