Iranian FM expresses opposition to Turkey's military operations in northern Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that any kind of military operation by Turkey in Northern Syria will result in instability and insecurity in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Meqdad in Damascus on Saturday, July 2.
Amir-Abdollahian said that any intervention by the foreign forces in the region is wrong and it will make the situation to become more complicated in the region.
He further added that any kind of military operation in northern Syria will cause regional instability.
The Iranian FM, meantime, said that it goes without saying that Iran-Syria relations are strategic.
"We will stand beside Syria with all our power in its fight against terrorism," Amir-Abdollahian said during the press conference with Meqdad.
"We are against any military action against Syria," the Iranian foreign minister added while reaffirming Iran's preparedness for giving any plan to resolve Syria's political crisis.
Amir-Abdollahian, headed a delegation arrived in Damascus, Syria on Saturday.
Upon his arrival at Damascus airport, he was officially welcomed by his Syrian counterpart Faisal Meqdad.
The Iranian minister of foreign affairs visited Damascus in September 2021 in order to take part in the Regional Conference to Support Iraq and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as well as his Syrian counterpart Faisal Meqdad.
