Swedish delegation to go to Turkey for talks on Kurdish extradition

A Swedish delegation will visit Turkey next week for talks on the extradition of people labelled as "terrorists" by Ankara, Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said on Monday, Ahval reported.

Members of the Swedish Justice Ministry will be in Turkey from October 5 to 6 for technical talks with their Turkish counterparts on the issue, news website T24 quoted Bozdag as saying after a cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara.
NATO member Turkey in June lifted its veto of Sweden and Finland's applications to join NATO after weeks of tense negotiations, during which Ankara accused the Nordic countries of harboring Kurdistan Workers' Party insurgents.
As part of the deal, Ankara provided a list of people it wanted the countries to extradite, but has since expressed frustration over the lack of progress on the issue.
Bozdag said another delegation from Turkey's Foreign Ministry is to travel to Finland to negotiate with Finnish officials about Turkey's extradition requests.
According to Turkey's justice minister, the individuals Turkey is seeking extradition from Sweden and Finland are linked to the PKK as well as the cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara accuses of organizing the July 2016 coup attempt.
