The event is expected to be attended by several Iranian and foreign officials and guests as well as artists, the director general of the provincial Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Mohsen Alavi told IRNA.
On September 2017, the World Crafts Council registered the Iranian Kurdish city as the world city of traditional Kurdish shoes called Klash.
Alavi said that the event will serve as a venue to introduce the potentials and capabilities of the artists in Mariwan and to promote jubilant mood among the craftsmen and artists in the region.
Klash is hand-made lightweight and breathable footwear made of natural cotton and leather. The mostly white colored shoes are frequently worn by the youth and seniors equally.
Iran now holds the first place in terms of the number of its cities and villages registered by the World Crafts Council.
