<p style="text-align: left;">The customs checkpoints between the Kurdistan Region and cities in central and southern Iraq will be lifted on February 17, the Iraqi General Commission of Customs said on Friday, February 8.

The commission said in a statement that an agreement on internal customs procedures would be implemented on February 17.

The implementation of the agreement is an &ldquo;important step&rdquo; that will help to organize trade, imports, and exports, the statement read.

According to NRT the statement said:&ldquo;It will be implemented at all customs checkpoints, including the Kurdistan Region&rsquo;s border crossings and Erbil and Sulaimani airports.&rdquo;

The customs checkpoints between the Region and other parts of Iraq at Fayda, Sherawa, and Laylan will be lifted as well, according to the statement.

Customs checkpoints were put in place on the Mosul-Duhok, Kirkuk-Erbil, and Kirkuk-Sulaimani roads to levy taxes on goods traveling south.
