Turkish jets bomb areas in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align: left;">Turkish warplanes resumed airstrikes on the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, February 20, nearly a month after protesters stormed a Turkish base in Shiladze.

According to NRT the Turkish fighter jets bombed Matin Mount in Deraluk sub-district in Amedi, northeast of Duhok, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Casualties remained unclear.

Turkey has carried out a campaign of airstrikes against suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers&rsquo; Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region.

Besides airstrikes, units of Turkish army have entered 30 kilometers into the Kurdistan Region and there are a number of bases in Duhok and Erbil governorates.

On January 26, residents in Shiladze protested against Turkish strikes that killed four civilians in the area the week before. The protesters stormed a Turkish military base and torched military equipment and vehicles.

One demonstrator was killed and 10 others were wounded.
