Envoy says US is attempting to deliver millions of dollars to Sinjar

<p style="text-align:left">The United States has allocated millions of dollars to help the reconstruction of the Yezidi majority populated region of Sinjar, but the situation of the town is not suitable to deliver the funds, Joey Hood, charg&amp;eacute; d'affaires at the US embassy in Baghdad, said on Sunday.

Responding to a question by Kurdistan 24 correspondent, Hood said that Washington is ready to help the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraqi government politically and diplomatically in the process of reconstructing Sinjar and the return of civilians to their places of origin.
He, however, pointed out that the current unstable situation should be resolved as a priority.
The Islamic State (IS), after occupying a vast area in Iraq, attacked the Yezidis in Sinjar in mid-2014 and killed hundreds of civilians while abducting thousands of others.
