Russia warns US not to meddle in Iran’s internal affairs

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has warned the US not to interfere in Iran’s domestic affairs, saying that Washington is using Iran’s internal situation to deliver a blow to the 2015 nuclear deal.

According to IRNA Ryabkov also said Washington “is tempted to use the moment to raise new issues with regard to the JCPOA”, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that limits Iran’s nuclear program, including restrictions on uranium enrichment for 10 years.

“We warn the US against attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Ryabkov said in an interview with state TV Russia on Thursday.

He further pointed out that Washington’s recent measures are indicative of its purposeful attempts to shake up global adherence to JCPOA, 'which is not befitting to our American partners.'

Russian official said that Iran’s internal developments, like the other countries', have nothing to do with the United Nations Security Council.

It is regrettable that we have to remind the American partners of principles of diplomacy, Ryabkov said.

Earlier, Ryabkov had said that US likely exit from JCPOA reveals its inability to implement the international pact.
