Holland, in a statement, added that various issues had been discussed in the meeting with Isa, but the main issue was efforts to end the Turkish air strikes on Afrin and the creation of a no-fly-zone over Afrin for Turkey.

Those who are attacked today were helpful to the anti-IS coalition in Raqqa, he added. “During our work with the coalition forces in Syria and Iraq, during my tenure as President, we were in constant contact with the Kurds.”

Xalid Isa, for his part, said that during the resistance of Kobane, France was the first country to provide international support. He said that he expects the same sensitivity for Afrin will be shown today.
