PUK holds meeting, dismisses three leading members

<p style="text-align:left">Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on Saturday, March 17, dismissed three senior members of the party during a meeting held by its Leadership Council, spokesman said.

During press conferences that besides those three, most of the other PUK members have been reelected for the party politburo, PUK spokesman Saadi Ahmed Pira said.
According to NRT the dismissed leadership members included Barham Salim who has recently established a new party outside the PUK, as well as Azad Jundiani and former Kirkuk Governor Najmadin Karim.
The Deputy Secretary General of PUK, Kosrat Rasul was elected as the party&rsquo;s first person until a congress will be held to appoint a secretary general.
In 1976, Jalal Talabani along with some of his fellows established the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. He then became the secretary general of the party.
He passed away in October 2017 at the age of 84 in Berlin, where he was on a medical trip.
