US not intending to quit Syria: Lavrov

<p style="text-align: left;">Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that the US did not intend to withdraw its troops from Syria, even though Washington has said that several times, state-run media RIA said.

Speaking to reporters in Beijing, the Russian FM said that he hoped there would be a clear way to resolve the issue of Syria cooperatively with his French counterparts, as cited by Reuters.

A few weeks earlier, US President Donald Trump said that his country's forces would withdraw out of Syria "soon", but only a few days later, Washington said that Trump had agreed to keep the troops for "a little longer" in the country.

However, concerning the meeting held on Monday in Canada by the G7 leading industrialized nations, Lavrov said they had a clear "Russophobic rationale," RIA added.
