Kirkuk council chief arrest warrant annulled

<p style="text-align: left;">The chief of Kirkuk provincial council stated that his arrest warrant has been successfully annulled after attempts by his lawyers.

Ribwar Talabani told Kurdistan 24 TV that the warrant was annulled after efforts by his lawyers.

He stated that the arrest warrant had been issued after pressure by Kirkuk Turkmeni Front, adding that a Kurdish judge had issued the order after pressure by the front and a legal complaint has been issued against the judge.

Talabani further hailed Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Massoud Barzani and reiterated that Barzani has always backed him regardless of political inclinations.

A judicial source in Kirkuk told al-Sumeria news that a court in the city has issued an arrest warrant against Talabani due to his decision in holding independence referendum in the province and hoisting Kurdistan flag in the province.
