A fraction in KDP seeks to sabotage ties with PUK: media

<p style="text-align: left;">Responding to comments by the governor of Dohuk regarding the supporters of the city's demonstrations and their affiliation, the official website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) media, claimed in a report that a faction within the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is seeking to sabotage the normalization of ties with the PUK.

Farhad Atrushi, Dohuk Governor and a member of the KDP), accused in remarks at a press conference Lahore Sheikh Jangi, the joint leader of the PUK) and the Islamic Union of Kurdistan and Change Movement, of involvement in Dohuk's demonstrations early this week and blamed them for backing demonstrations.

The PUK official website PUKMedia blamed the remarks in a report that stated that the KDP has released photos of the governor's press conference in Dohuk, where the governor has made charges instead of responding to the situation of the region and quelling the demands of teachers and citizens, he had made charges and the majority of these charges are against Lahore Sheikh Jangi.

The report further added that everyone knows this way of speaking is peculiar to a single fraction inside the KDP where peace-building between Kurds and regular relations between the parties and the Kurdistan Region&rsquo;s movements dismays it and plans to undermine all the efforts of the KDP to normalize ties with the PUK and put hurdles on defusing tensions.

The official media of the PUK stressed that the stance by the governor is distracting and all the people of region are well aware that the PUK has taken part in defending and protecting the rights of the people in the Kurdistan Regional Government and has refused to relinquish its responsibility and has an unwavering belief in the principles of democracy and political consensus in the Kurdish Region in a way that meets the people's legitimate and peaceful demands.

The report finally pointed out that the people of the Kurdistan region know that the PUK, in line with its years of activity and political independence, does not believe in the destruction of others and does not accept the monopolies imposed in Badinan region (the regions under the KDP control, including Dohuk) and does not view it as a correct and worthy way for the people of the region.

Meanwhile, the official spokesperson for the Islamic Union of Kurdistan, has denied any involvement of the party in the employees demonstrations in Dohuk Province.
