US announces official readiness to assist Erbil following recent missile strike: KRG official

<p style="text-align:left">The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) foreign relations department stressed that following the recent missile attack around Erbil International Airport, the United States has officially announced its readiness to provide any assistance to the Kurdistan Region.

According to Baghdad Al-Youm, Safin Dizayee said: "Providing security for members of the diplomatic missions in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq is essential for stability and security throughout the country, and following the recent missile attack around Erbil International Airport, the government of the United States has officially announced its readiness to provide any assistance to the Kurdistan Region.
There are several international treaties to ensure the security and protection of diplomatic missions and diplomats, one of which is the Vienna Convention, the Kurdish official stated, adding that but it is unfortunate that the US embassy and other diplomatic and international missions in Baghdad have been so threatened that the United States has announced its readiness to close its embassy in Baghdad.
He added that the closure of the US embassy in Baghdad would cause great damage to Iraq and the Kurdish region, and would end into chaos and crisis in the country.
Dizayee stated: The federal government is expected to make the security of diplomats and diplomatic missions as one of its top priorities, thus preventing the movements of terrorist groups attacking the mentioned missions, which seek to create chaos since they create chaos and many problems in the country.
The head of the Kurdistan Region Foreign Relations Office stressed: "Unfortunately, some parties still believe in violence and chaos and try to endanger the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region." However, the region has not hesitated in the face of these efforts and will spare no effort to maintain the security of diplomatic missions and international coalition forces, as well as all citizens of the Kurdistan Region from different ethnicities and religions.
