According to Kordpress, the American Consulate in Erbil, by publishing a statement on its user account on the X social network, announced that a high-ranking American delegation met with Massoud Barzani and emphasized that they have a strong and long-term partnership with the Kurdistan Region, and that this is the main part of the broader partnership between the United States and Iraq, which will be beneficial to the people of the two countries.

In the statement, it is stated that Joshua Harris, the charge d'affaires of the American embassy in Iraq, paid attention to the process of forming the new Iraqi government and stressed that it is necessary for any government that is formed in Baghdad to be completely independent and only work to protect the national interests of all Iraqis.

He added that Iraq can maintain its sovereignty only through an independent government and keep itself away from regional tensions, so that it can benefit from partnership and mutual understanding with the United States of America.

Based on the statement, in another part of this meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the political developments in Iraq and praised the constructive talks that are currently underway in Baghdad.

The American delegation welcomed the continued efforts to create an inclusive political framework for all Iraqi communities that would promote stability and provide a suitable basis for advancing the partnership between Washington and Baghdad in all fields.
