Iraqi president Masoum calls for boosting ties with Iran

<p style="text-align: left;">Iraqi President Fouad Masoum hailed Iran&amp;rsquo;s positive stances regarding his country and underlined the need for consolidating relations with Tehran, adding that Iraq attaches significance to enhancement of ties with the Islamic Republic.

Masoum made the remarks in a meeting with Iran&rsquo;s Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi late Monday.

The Iraqi president further pointed out that his country will never forget Iran&rsquo;s helps to it in the fight against terrorism as well as its effective role in achieving victory over the terrorists, IRNA reported,

Masjedi, for his part, appreciated the Iraqi president&rsquo;s positive stances and reaffirmed Iran&rsquo;s support and cooperation with Iran in various fields.

&ldquo;Further development of ties in economic, social, cultural, political, defense and security fields is a priority for Iran,&rdquo; he said.

Referring to establishment of new Iraqi parliament after Fouad Masoum issued a decree, he hoped that the event will take a normal course so that the new government would be set up at the earliest.

Iran&rsquo;s envoy also said that Tehran will support the government slated to be established in the neighboring state and will spare no effort to help it.
