He made the remarks in a press conference with his Iranian counterpart Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli in Baghdad, IRNA reported.

Al-Araji pointed to importance of borders security in three different sections of shuttling passengers and pilgrims, local and land trade, fight against drug trafficking and terrorism and said that a trilateral meeting will be held soon.

'We discussed the three aforementioned items with Iranian counterpart', al-Araji added.

Rahmani Fazli, heading a high-ranking politico-security delegation, arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning to discuss Arbaeen rituals.

He signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation with his Iraqi counterpart on Arbaeen Rituals.

Iran Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi, Deputy Minister of Interior for security affairs Hossein Zolfaqari and Commander of Border Guard Force Brigadier General Qassem Rezaei attended signing ceremony.

Around four million Iranian pilgrims travel to Iraq annually, mainly in Arbaeen Rituals time.
