A senior US Department of Defense official has claimed that Russia is withdrawing some of its troops from Russia and that the purpose of this "retreat" is to transfer these troops to the Ukraine war.
"Russia has informed the Syrian central government of its plan to withdraw its forces to replace Russian forces," the unnamed senior US official was quoted as saying by Sky News.
More than two weeks ago reports released about the gradual withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria, but this withdrawal has been gradual and slow, and has not created a vacuum in the areas where Russian forces are present.
