Turkish attack in Syria Kurdistan claimed lives of 11 civilians – SDF

Renewed Turkish airstrikes in northern Syria [Rojava] on Sunday claimed the lives of 11 civilians, including one journalist, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said.

Dubbed an attack operation “Claw-Sword” Turkey unleashed a new offensive against the Kurdish groups in Syria’s Rojava and the Kurdistan Region, conducting airstrikes on bases of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

The SDF press center revealed the outcome of the air raids that were carried out by the Turkish “occupation” state at midnight in Syria.

“Turkish attack on Derik, Zerghan, Girê Spî, Kobanî, and Shahba resulted in the martyrdom of 11 citizens and ANHA correspondent Issam Abdullah,” it said.

It also injured 6 citizens and a reporter of Stêrk TV, in addition to the death of 14 members of the Damascus government forces and the injury of 12 other members, according to the press center of the SDF.

Turkey deems the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the heart of the SDF, as the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Ankara considers the PKK and YPG terrorist organizations.
