The official added that despite Paris promise to back Kurds in Syria, France does not intend to stay in Syria after U.S. withdrawal and would quit the country and the Kurds.
Meanwhile a military source called U.S. demand for the deployment of NATO forces into northern Kurdish region of Syria to replace U.S. forces and provide the security of a planned safe zone in the region as impractical a providing the security of the region needs 20000 forces while there are only 1200 rench forces in northern Syria.
It is worth mentioning that Fabris Balanche told Kurdpress in an interview days ago that France cannot defend Kurds in Syria and the country would quit war-torn Syria after the U.S. withdraws its forces.
He added that the U.S. has always been announced as the main ally of the Kurds in Syria but, in reality, there are some 400 French and British forces in the Kurdish regions of Syria and are training the Kurdish forces.
France has always introduced itself as a Kurds’ friend and Kurds in Syria have asked for help from Paris in critical situations as Syria Kurdish leaders visited Paris and asked for help after the IS attacked the Kurdish regions.
The analyst, also a Washington Institute researcher, stated that Paris is not able to defend Kurds in Syria and cannot fill the gap after the withdrawal of the U.S. forces.
Stressing that Paris is following a vague policy in Syria, he added that French army is not strong enough to play the role of a substitution after the U.S. troops left the region.
He even claimed that French forces would very likely leave the Kurdish regions in Syria after Washington pulled out its forces from Syria.
The analyst added that the news of the U.S. withdrawal from Syria was a bad report for Paris as it cannot remain in Syria alone as France is losing its best support against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Balanche further did not predict a good future for Syrian Kurds.
