Masjedi and his accompanying delegation, including Iran consuls to Sulaimani, Erbil, Karbala and Najaf, met Barzani in his private resort in Erbil, the capital of the region, and discussed bilateral ties, KDP official website reported.

According to the report the two sides traded view on the political situation in the region and Iraq as well as ties between Baghdad and Erbil.

The ways to boost ties between the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran was another topic that the leaders discussed and called for expanding the bilateral relations.

Barzani and Masjedi also discussed the process of government formation in the region.
