Masoud Barzani sends letter to PUK, attempting to ease tensions

<p style="text-align: left;">The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) spokesman stated that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Masoud Barzani has sent a friendly letter to the PUK Deputy Secretary General Kosrat Rasul, calling it an attempt by Barzani to ease tensions between the two parties.

Latif Sheikh Omer told reporters on Saturday, February 23, that the PUK has discussed the recent developments in the Kurdistan Region in a meeting attended by Rasul.

The spokesman went on to add that Barzani has sent a friendly letter to Rasul in order to ease tensions between the KDP and the PUK and the later has welcomed the letter and has answered the letter warmly.

sheikh Omer added that there is the possibility of a meeting between the PUK political bureau with the PUK in the upcoming days.

Meanwhile NRT reported that Barzani has asked, in the letter, for an end to media war between the PUK and the KDP and called for new talks between the two parties over the PUK participation in the new Kurdistan Region government and has stated that Kurdistan Regional Government (KRP) Prime Minister and the PUK Deputy Leader Nechirvan Barzani would make an official visit to Sulaimani to hold talks with PUK leaders.
