Two Hashid al-Shaabi fighters killed in IS attack

<p style="text-align: left;">Two fighters from the Hashid al-Shaabi were killed by suspected Islamic State (IS) militants in western Kirkuk on Thursday night, March 14.

According to NRT the IS militants attacked a unit of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), known as Hashd al-Shaabi, in Hawija district.

Meanwhile, an improvised explosive device wounded two members of the Iraqi Security Forces in Daquq district, south of Kirkuk city.

Meanwhile Iraq and anti-IS coalition jets hit the positions of the Islamic State (IS) around the city of Kirkuk in Kirkuk province, northern Iraq.

Iraq Ministry of Interior said in a statement that the jets hit the position of the terrorists in Abu Khanjar region in the province.

According to the statement 9 IS sleeping cells were destroyed in the bombardment and a number of bombs and ammunitions were seized from the group.

Security forces have arrested a number of IS members in the past weeks as the group remnants have increased their activities.
