Peter Van Born who has worked as long as 24 years in the U.S. department of state has blamed, in an article, the U.S. for the developments in Iraq since 1991.
He has mentioned in his article, released in Huffington Post, to the withdrawal of the Kurdish forces from Kirkuk and other disputed region in October 2017 and stated that the U.S. did not need the Iraqi Kurds and therefore did not support them against Iraqi forces in the region.
Van Born went on to add that the U.S. promises an independent state to Kurds whenever it needs the Kurds but it forgets them as it does not need the Kurds any longer.
The writer added that the U.S. could help the Kurds to have their own independent state in 1991 if it wanted.
