The two women were named as Hind Latif Al Khadir, who was Head of the Economy Committee of Til Shayir, and Sa'da Faysal Al Hermas, who was co-president of Til Shayir People Council, according to the Rojava Information Center.

In a statement, Hasaka Canton Council blamed Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells for the murders, NRT reported.

Both women had received death threats over the past several months for their work with the Kurdish Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

At least 234 civilians, including seventeen children and eleven women, have been killed by ISIS sleeper cells in northeastern Syria since June 2018, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

An additional 418 Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members and four US-led Coalition soldiers have also been killed by sleeper cells.

Elsewhere in Syria, three people, including two children and a woman, were killed and nine others were wounded in a Turkish drone strike targeting SDF-controlled Tal Rifaat district, the administration's officials said in a statement on Saturday.

Another civilian was wounded in a separate drone strike south of Kobani.

Turkey and its Syrian rebel allies continue to violate ceasefire agreements in northern Syria, resulting in harm to civilian populations in areas controlled by the SDF.
