Turkey orders arrest of 17 including HDP co-leader

<p style="text-align: left;">Turkey has issued arrest warrants for 17 people including the co-leader of the People&amp;rsquo;s Democratic Party (HDP) over opposition to Turkish military offensive on Afrin, Anadolu agency reported.

The state-run Anadolu agency cited the Ankara prosecutor&rsquo;s office as saying the 17 were accused of seeking to stir street protests to oppose the Afrin operation.

HDP co-leader Serpil Kemalbay was among them, it said.

The party was scheduled to hold its annual congress in Ankara on Sunday, February 11.

Parliament&rsquo;s second-largest opposition party, HDP is the only party to oppose the Turkish &ldquo;Operation Olive Branch&rdquo; against the Kurdish forces in Afrin.

Some 600 people have been detained for protests or for social media posts against the operation so far.
