<p style="text-align: left;">Turkish police detained the Peoples&amp;rsquo; Democratic Party (HDP) Deputy Co-chair responsible for Ecology and 12 others in Van Province in eastern Turkey on Tuesday, April 3.

HDP deputy co-chair Murat Cepni has been taken into custody following a raid on his flat, Firat News Agency (ANF) reported.

Cepni was detained over his social media posts, the agency added.

Turkish police also detained 12 other people including HDP Van Provincial co-chair Tahirhan Sayyigit and Ipekyolu district executives Nuri Gur, Ali Beyaz, and Fikret Duman according to ANF.

On March 23, Van High Criminal Court imposed a jail term of more than 18 years against HDP lawmaker Lezgin Botan over terror-related charges.

Meanwhile, HDP deputy Osman Baydemir was sentenced to more than one year over allegations of insulting the police while he was the governor of Diyarbakir.

The HDP&rsquo;s inclusion in Turkey&rsquo;s Parliament came in 2015 after it gained 80 seats in the Parliament making itself the second largest opposition block after the Justice and Development (AKP) party of the current administration.
