Unity among the Kurdish political parties must be top priority before they go to Baghdad, Barzani said during a press conference in Erbil, adding that “we cannot succeed in Baghdad if we are not united,” he said.
Barzani’s party, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), took a lead in the Kurdistan Region’s poll by wining most of the seats among the Kurdish political parties.
Six Kurdish political parties rejected the primary results of the elections demanding manual recounting of the votes. They said the electronic system for the election has been hacked.
KRG Prime Minister said he has heard about complaints by the six Kurdish parties and urged the Iraqi High Electoral Commission to take their demands into account.
When asked about the upcoming parliamentary election in the Kurdistan Region which has been set for September 30 and presidential election, Barzani said “We have ordered the electoral [commission] to start preparations for all of the elections in the Kurdistan Region, including the presidential election,” NRT reported.
