Araji added that the Iraqi Security Forces should prevent foreign interference on Iraqi soil.
On January 22, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the prospect of intervention, saying in a speech that Turkish forces may “come there overnight, all of a sudden.”
Araji noted that Turkish violations of Iraqi sovereignty were not new and happen routinely.
Turkey regularly carries out cross-border operations in northern Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, justifying its actions as necessary to combat the PKK, which has waged a decades-long insurgency for Kurdish rights in Turkey’s southeast.
Last month, Turkey launched Operation Claw-Eagle 2, which focused fighting the PKK on Gara Mountain in Duhok governorate.
