Iraqi PM to unveil cabinet picks on Thursday

<p style="text-align: left;">The Iraqi Parliament will meet for an extraordinary session on Thursday, February 27, where Prime Minister-designate Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi will present his proposed cabinet of independent candidates, NRT reported.

&ldquo;Tomorrow [the Council of Representatives will] vote on the first independent cabinet of honest and qualified candidates, who will return the people their rights, and Iraq its prestige,&rdquo; Allawi said in a tweet.

&ldquo;Tomorrow together, the people, representatives, candidates and national political forces will turn a new page and look forward to a strong and free Iraq,&rdquo; he added.

Allawi had originally called for the session to take place on Monday, but it was delayed after objections primarily from some members of the Kurdish and Sunni blocs in parliament about his approach to government formation with some parties demanding a greater say over ministers from their communities.
