PKK and KDP differences would deteriorate problems of Syrian Kurdish parties: official

The differences between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) would deteriorate the problems between the Syrian Kurdish parties, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDPS) told Kurdpress in an interview.

"Currently, negotiations between Kurdish parties in Syria are useless, because until the differences between the KDP and the PKK are left unresolved, the Kurdish parties in Syria will not reach any agreement," Rezan Nasan, the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party (KDPS) member and former head of the Euphrates Regional Culture Department, told Kurdpress.

Any tensions between the KDP and the PKK would be widely reflected in the political situation of the Kurdish parties in Syria, he said, referring to the recent tensions between the two Kurdish parties.

Mr. Nasan continued as saying that: "The Kurdish National Council (ENKS) is close to the KDP and its leaders are in the Kurdistan region today, and the escalation of differences between the PKK and the KDP will lead to the suspension of Kurdish-Kurdish talks between the ENKS and the Kurdish Patriotic Union Parties (PYNK)."

He added: "In my opinion, negotiations between Kurdish parties in Syria are useless at the moment, because Kurdish parties in Syria will not reach an agreement until the differences between the KDP and the PKK are not resolved."

"We hope that both the PKK and the KDP would exercise restraint and distance themselves from any fratricidal war," the Kurdish official further said.
